Your ÐßÐßÂþ»­username and password affect most of your accounts at ÐßÐßÂþ»­(ÐßÐßÂþ»­Google email, Workday, Canvas, computers labs, library tools, wireless access, etc.).

New to Hamline? New students and employees receive a username and initial password in separate emails when admitted or hired by ÐßÐßÂþ»­.

Change your ÐßÐßÂþ»­password

Be aware that changing your ÐßÐßÂþ»­password will affect most systems at ÐßÐßÂþ»­(ÐßÐßÂþ»­Google email, Workday, Canvas, computers labs, library tools, wireless access, network access, etc.)

  • If your ÐßÐßÂþ»­password has expired, contact the Service Desk at 651-523-2220 and give us your current contact information. An agent will contact you to help you change it.

Password guidelines

Your password must:

  • Be a minimum of 15 characters long. Passphrases (longer and easier to remember sequences of words) are strongly recommended.
  • Be fewer than 64 characters long.
  • Not use repetitive or sequential characters (e.g. ‘aaaaaa’, ‘1234abcd’).
  • Not use context-specific words such as the name of the service and username.
  • Be changed at least once per year (365 days). 
  • Be unique to the last 24 passwords used.


    Once your password has expired, your account will be disabled until you reset your password with the CSD. You will receive warnings at two weeks, three days, and one day to change your password. Please change your password before it expires.

ÐßÐßÂþ»­Google email

Students, staff, and faculty have ÐßÐßÂþ»­Google email addresses in the format of username@hamline.edu. Log into your ÐßÐßÂþ»­Google email at www.hamline.edu/mail with your ÐßÐßÂþ»­username and password (above). Please note when using the regular Gmail login page (mail.google.com), you must use your full ÐßÐßÂþ»­Google email address (username@hamline.edu) and your ÐßÐßÂþ»­password to login.

New to Hamline? Google email accounts are created for degree seeking students upon registration. Non-degree seeking students are not assigned a ÐßÐßÂþ»­email account. Staff and faculty receive their ÐßÐßÂþ»­email when hired.
